Mullen was in her debut short film in the role of director. They co-wrote the music for the film. Gifford is a patron of many charities for children such as Childhelp and the Association to Benefit Children. These organizations gave birth to Cassidy's Place and Cody House, named after her children. Her efforts to help others within the realm of employment relations has earned her an honorary doctorate at Marymount University.
